Janhvi Kapoor has been making appearances across a string of releases, including Peddi, where she shares screen space with Ram Charan. However, a section of viewers has argued that her role in the film leaves more room for visual presentation than performance. Discussions across social media have focused on her costumes, screen presence, and camera framing, with some viewers claiming that certain sequences drew more attention to her figure than to her character arc. Even in ensemble scenes and moments alongside Ram Charan, many online reactions centered on styling choices.
The conversation took another turn after purported chat messages, said to date back to October 2025, surfaced online. According to screenshots circulating on social media, Janhvi Kapoor allegedly stated that she had informed filmmakers there would be “no b**bs, no waist shots” going forward. The same alleged exchanges further suggested that Ram Charan supported her position, while director Buchi Babu was reportedly unhappy with the stance.
Janhvi Kapoor comments on Kiara Advani and Sreeleela
During promotional events for Peddi, Janhvi Kapoor publicly credited director Buchi Babu for the openness of her performance and for the way her character was portrayed on screen. At the time, she indicated that much of what audiences saw in the film stemmed from the filmmaker’s vision.
However, after criticism arose over her acting, wardrobe choices, movements, and overall presentation in the film, a different narrative began gaining traction online.
Critics on social media have argued that Kapoor’s PR (public relations) team is now attempting to create distance between the actor and the film’s creative decisions by highlighting claims that she was uncomfortable with certain camera angles and shot selections.
Given that she had earlier credited the director for her portrayal, some observers have interpreted the leaked chats as a divergence from her earlier position.
The purported conversations also contained references to Telugu actor Sreeleela. According to the screenshots, Janhvi Kapoor allegedly remarked that directors tend to maintain boundaries on sets when Sreeleela’s parents are present during filming.

The discussion reportedly extended to Kiara Advani and her appearance in the film Game Changer. When another participant in the conversation pointed to criticism surrounding camera work involving Advani, Kapoor allegedly suggested that such practices were not uncommon.
According to the screenshots being circulated online, she wrote: “They’ll say close up and puit camera on your cl*avage. You can’t trust anything… And that time, no monitors to check playback. So, you really can’t see where they are putting the camera.”
The alleged messages also included another remark from Janhvi Kapoor as she said, “They’re still living in the 60s. Bollywood is so flop but at least the makers have evolved.”
The authenticity of the leaked chats has not been independently verified, and Janhvi Kapoor has not publicly confirmed the messages. Nevertheless, the screenshots have fueled debate across social media platforms, with supporters and critics offering competing interpretations of the controversy.
Buschi Babu’s response
Meanwhile, Buchi Babu responded after facing criticism over the film’s portrayal of women. In a statement shared on social media, the filmmaker wrote,
“I have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen, and it wa never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologize.”
He further added, “Every woman deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity. We remain committed to telling stories that celebrate strong characters and uphold those values.”
Even after the statement, debate has continued online, with some viewers arguing that certain shots in the film appeared designed through a lens catering to the male gaze.
The dance choreographer of Janhvi Kapoor’s movie Peddi has multiple assault cases against him
The controversy has also brought renewed attention to choreographer Jani Master, who worked on the film. Social media users have pointed out that he has faced legal cases involving allegations of sexual assault dating back to 2020 and 2024.
Reports from those proceedings stated that one case involved allegations made by a 21-year-old female assistant. The matter later saw legal developments, competing claims from both sides, and changes in courtroom positions. Jani Master is currently out on bail while legal proceedings continue.
The wider debate has since expanded beyond Peddi, with critics questioning the standards applied within sections of the film industry and whether public commitments to respecting women are consistently reflected in hiring decisions and on-screen representation.
